In the World of Crawling Dead The Record of War of a Certain High School
Chapter 9 - The Advice From the Speakers
“One two, one two. Survivors in the school, can you hear me?”
The voice echoed around the school.
“I hope you’re fine? I am pretty sure you can hear me.”
All of the survivors inside the school looked at the speakers.
The owner of this voice.
That was Tooru.
After Tooru had hesitated for a moment in front of the gate, he started searching for survivors inside the school.
Luckily, because of the broadcasting club, Tooru knew how to broadcast.
After moving to the broadcasting room, he had started to broadcast.
“I am Tooru Saejima from first year class 4. From now on, I will inform you of the information about the present situation… Though, there is nothing like that. Uh, although I think most people have noticed this, zombies… uh, I call the strange people zombies. These zombies are attracted to sounds.”
Every person listening to the broadcast had different reactions.
Of course, none of them reproached Tooru, instead, they were all impressed.
“I will now play music. Since the zombies will move to places with sound, I think they will gather by the speakers playing music.”
Miu and Daiki peered into the hallway through the window of the door to the small library, and zombies gathered by the speakers in the hallway.
“By playing music through the speakers, the zombies will gather by them. Please move while the zombies are gathering by the speakers. Though, on my way here, I discovered that there were zombies not reacting to sound as well. So please bear in mind that I have not attracted all of the zombies. Please wait ten minutes for me to finish the preparations.”
Miu and Daiki, Takumi and Hazuki, Ryu and Rei, and the rest of the survivors exchanged glances with each other.
Their expressions were somewhat lightened.
The situation changed for the better.
This premonition came to mind.
And then ten minutes had passed.
“…Ten minutes have passed. Then, I will now pause the broadcast. Until everyone has moved into the conference room, I won’t end the music. Therefore, I will say the things I want to say… Everyone, please, do not give up. Even if you, for example, can’t move because of fear, please try to move somehow or other. And then, please gather in the conference room next to the broadcasting room. I hope to meet everyone still alive. I wish you good luck.”
With a click, the broadcast stopped.
Before long, they thought they could hear the faint sound of an electric guitar from the speakers, and then loud drumming came in a flash.
The CD with the song in the broadcasting clubroom was a trending song right now.
The singer burst out in song.
It felt like the upbeat song had a heroic melody in it.
It was like the music was encouraging them.
“Let’s go!”
“Yeah!”
Daiki removed the barricade in front of the small library.
A few zombies were moving about in confusion because of the echo of the music.
“The basics of basketball! Run past the enemy like the wind!”
Daiki ran, weaving his way through the zombies.
And then, he followed Miu behind him.
And then, coming all the way to the stairs, there was a chafing sound.
“Counterattack with a quick pivot!”
He said and headed to the stairs.
There was nothing more annoying than this.
Since he had let out a louder voice than the speakers attracting the zombies, they started to notice him.
“Could you be a bit quieter?”
“Sure, I’ll do my best.”
The two of them started walking once again.
“Nevertheless, what a cruel situation.”
Miu muttered.
That was probably unavoidable as well.
The hallway was covered in red from the massive amount of blood from the corpses of people being too injured to become zombies.
The glass had a bloody handprint from being smashed, there was a crack in it.
There was a zombie tightly gripping a weapon - perhaps the person had fought zombies before turning into one themselves.
Miu lowered her head a little and said a silent prayer.
Like she loved them from the depths of her heart.
However, that was only for a short moment.
Other people could never understand one's sadness, and they also couldn’t be responsible for carrying a dead person’s feelings.
Because Miu understood that it was other people’s affairs in the end.
Therefore, they had to move now in order to survive.
There was no time for mourning.
Miu breathed in deeply.
She felt nauseous because of the smell of blood, but she let it sink deeply into her body as she breathed it in and continued walking.
Daiki had also said a silent prayer when he saw the situation like Miu and then started to quickly move in front of her.
Because of a sense of justice of not wanting any more fatalities, or simply because he was a man.
He continued walking in front of Miu for quite a while.
Miu was touched by the appearance of Daiki, who protected her in a situation where no one knew when they would die.
The conference room they were heading for was only a little further.
She quickened her pace to match Daiki’s.
“Please do not be impatient. The instant of carelessness will be fatal.”
Daiki rebuked while arriving at the conference room.
And then, the door to the conference room was opened.
