In the World of Crawling Dead The Record of War of a Certain High School

Chapter 35 - How To Use

The day dawned and morning came.

It was before seven o’clock before each of them emerged from their blankets.

And, at 7:30, everyone gathered in the conference room.

“Well then, what will we do today?”

Takumi asked Tooru.

“Since it’s raining, the girls could wash the laundry with the accumulated rainwater. Wear raincoats, so you don’t get wet. If you catch a cold, it’ll be hard to deal with it now when we don’t have any medicine. The welding is also paused today. Instead, let’s clean up the remaining places. Also, could Ryou possibly use a radio?”

“Radio?”

“Yeah. I’m certain that this school had an amateur radio club.”

“Got it.”

“Well then, let’s start working, everyone!”

Each of them left their seats.

“So, how do I use one?”

“Who knows…?”

Opening the door with a paper patch indicating it’s the amateur radio club, he saw that the room was in a commotion, probably from a crisis of wanting to use the radio.

“First, let’s search for a manual.”

“Let’s see… Oh, found it. Found it.”

He picked up a manual that randomly lay on a machine.

It was heavy to hold because of its thickness, and there were probably a few hundred pages.

It seemed handmade with the pages being roughly stuck together with a stapler, making him wonder how it could be an “Easy Amateur Radio For Everyone”. How.

First of all, turn on the power.

“Uh, what is this?”

“Try calling Fm and ask if there’s anyone there.”

“How?”

“Uh, that is…”

“Argh! Give it!”

He snatched the manual from Rei.

It was several times quicker to look at it himself.

“Do this here, and then…”

Fiddling around with the panel, he heard the standard radio sound.

“Is it ready now?”

“Yeah, probably.”

“Amazing…”

“Well, it’s only to this extent.”

Ryou said jokingly and rotated the handle to see if they could broadcast something somewhere.

However, the sound didn’t change.

“This will be time-consuming work. Rei, please tell Tooru that this will take some time.”

“OK.”

Rei left the room.

After giving him a sidelong glance, he once again faced the radio.

“Whoah. Are we doing this? With two people?”

“Well, let’s do our best.”

A classroom dyed in red was in front of Tooru and Daiki holding mops and buckets.

Bits of flesh and spinal fluids stuck here and there.

“Oh… Even the curtains are covered in it.”

There was no exception, even to the yellow curtains.

Being torn and stained with blood, they were similar to the curtains of a haunted house.

“First, let’s move back the desks.”

“Yeah.”

The two people brought the desks all the way to the blackboard.

It was such an unrealistic scene that the time they had once taken class peacefully was a mere illusion.

Besides, the smell was awful.

If they didn’t ventilate properly, the hygiene would probably turn bad.

Opening the windows fully, he started mopping the floor.

“Did you put on rubber gloves bags? We have to hold the meat, or well, rip it off with a foot or something.”

“I get it.”

The two cleaned off the blood from the floor.

As they did that, Rei entered the classroom.

“Oh, Rei. What is it?”

“Well, it’ll take some time for Ryou. I just wanted to report this.”

Saying that, Rei headed to the door, and a large arm pulled him.

“Whoa!?”

“Hey… Don’t tell me you won’t offer your help after seeing our situation?”

Cleaning this classroom with only the two of them was certainly harsh.

“Haah… I understand.”

Rei reluctantly received a mop.

Buzz.

Ryou leaned back on the chair and read a book as the radio sound rang.

Even though he called it a book, it wasn’t a formal one.

It was the novel of “Aid Union God Vine”.

The main scene was a famous one where Jisa cornered Glick, and even reading it was exciting.

Buzz buzz.

“Hmm?”

The sound had slightly changed.

Setting aside the book, he hurriedly called out.

“Is there anyone there?”

Buzz buzz.

“Hello? Hello?”

“... Truck Brigade, this is Truck Brigade. Are there any survivors?”

“It came!”

He hurriedly answered.

“Hello! Can you hear me?”

As he did that, the opposite line got noisy.

They seemed to be saying something.

“...A survivor?”

“Yes, this is Shimoicho Masanari Academy.”

“This is Truck Brigade. As the name suggests, we are gathering survivors while traveling by truck. Our number of people is fourteen. We are a formation of four. How about you?”

“We are fifteen people. Everyone is a student.”

“Are you safe?”

“Yes, for now. Please wait a moment, I will call our representative.”

“Okay, please do.”

There were survivors.

And fourteen at that.

The larger the number, the higher the risk of infection, but it would also increase their supplies.

Ryou suppressed his emotions and headed for Tooru.
