As soon as Wu Tong stepped out of the Bureau of Civil Affairs, she was blinded by sunlight. She instinctively raised her hand to block the sunlight from getting into her eyes. Upon seeing this, Qin Ge stepped in front of her, positioning himself so that his body blocked the sun from Wu Tong’s face.

“Why are you out here?” Qin Ge observed all the couples holding hands as they walked in and out of the Bureau of Civil Affairs. For some reason, he couldn’t help but get the sense that his marriage was lacking something.

“I’m going to the train station.” Wu Tong hadn’t noticed that Qin Ge was using his body to shield her from the sun. All she did was put her hand down and retreat a few steps back, attempting to find a more comfortable position.

“Are you busy?” Qin Ge asked. It didn’t seem like he had noticed Wu Tong trying to evade him.

“I have somewhere I need to be, but it’s nothing urgent,” Wu Tong responded.

“Then let me take you somewhere,” Qin Ge said.

“Where?” Wu Tong raised her head to look at him.

“Just follow along.”

Qin Ge led a still hesitant Wu Tong over to a red motorcycle. He grabbed the sole helmet and put it on Wu Tong’s head. He accidentally used too much force when putting it on, so Wu Tong let out a soft yelp.

Qin Ge stiffened. “Are you alright?” He reached up in an attempt to take off the helmet.

“I’m good.” Wu Tong dodged his hands and retreated a few steps back.

Qin Ge didn’t say anything more but deep down he told himself: My wife is somewhat fragile, so I need to control my strength from now on.

This was Wu Tong’s first time riding on a motorcycle, so she firmly grasped the metal frame of the motorcycle with both hands as she cautiously lowered herself onto the back seat. As soon as Qin Ge started the motorcycle, Wu Tong’s body started to shake uncontrollably. She paled instantly.

Qin Ge steered round a bend, heading in the direction of the Bureau of Civil Affairs' main entrance before halting. He planted one foot down and with a somewhat helpless expression, he stretched out his hand and reached behind him. He pulled Wu Tong’s hands, which had been clutching the frame of the motorcycle, and wrapped them around his waist.

Wu Tong resisted but Qin Ge was too strong for her. Using only one hand, he effortlessly grasped both of her hands.

“Hold on tight.” Qin Ge’s voice was firm.

“I…”

Qin Ge turned his head around to face her. “We’re married now, so you need to start getting used to my touch.”

Wu Tong blinked and stopped resisting.

The motorcycle sped along like a nimble fish weaving smoothly through marine traffic. Wu Tong clung to Qin Ge’s waist, hugging him tightly. The faster he went, the tighter she hugged him. By the end of the ride, Wu Tong’s entire body was practically sticking to Qin Ge’s back. She was so close to him, she was able to breathe in his masculine scent.

Qin Ge felt Wu Tong’s soft body pressing against his back as she held onto him for dear life. A smile tugged at the corner of his lips and his eyes glittered with amusement as he sped up, going faster and faster.

The motorcycle left the main road and turned into an alleyway. It became quieter as they sped past several alleys. After a few turns, they finally came to a halt.

“We’ve arrived.”
